Structural investigation and review is essential whether one is dealing with an historic structure or one only a few years old. These reviews keep New York City landmarks like Grand Central Terminal from being subjected to undue structural compromise and allow them to maintain their original character to the fullest extent possible. For this project, Shmerykowsky investigated the existing structure prior to the installation of several Chase Bank ATMs on the concourse level. SCE determined that additional reinforcement would be necessary to handle the superimposed loads from the ATMs.
