Designed by storied architectural firm Emery Roth & Sons, this building has also been known as the J.P. Stevens Company Tower or Stevens Tower after the textile firm that was once headquartered there. Shmerykowsky Consulting Engineers has participated in several projects at 1185 Avenue of the Americas, dating back to 2004, including a ground level storefront relocation, a sub-cellar chiller installation, and various tenant work. SCE served as engineer of record for an extensive tenant restack project involving the engineering a new interfloor staircase between the 38th and 42nd floors, a new hung catwalk and AC platforms and a structural support for an architectural draped ceiling for the 42nd floor, and a new mechanical equipment bulkhead on tower roof. SCE is the building engineer at this 40 story high-rise.
